Chatta in Malaysia – By Chris Williams
Chatta has always had interest internationally and it was a privilege to be invited to speak at the event “Assuring Quality in Early Childhood Care and Education Seminar” at the MITI Tower in Kuala Lumpur on November 24th.
The event included contributions from Paul Rennie OBE, British High Commission Kuala Lumpur Malaysia; Secretary General, Datuk Dr Rose Lena bt Lazemi, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development YBhg; John Woodward, Group CEO, Busy Bees; Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Prof. Emerita Dr. Sharifah Hapsah; Norsheila Abdullah, President of Association of Registered Childcare Providers Malaysia; Andrew Dalton, Principal & Director of Education, ISPKL; Vipul Bhargava, DIT Education London.
In addition, I was able to present a masterclass introducing the chatta approach to attendees from across Malaysia and the ASEAN region. Chatta was introduced as representing the “best of the best” of Early Years practice in the UK. There was particular interest in the way chatta incorporates play based learning, parent partnership and the development of language and communication through a clear and simple pedagogical design based around innovations in technology.
There are now schools in Malaysia already working with chatta, and we hope to return to the country soon to move forward with the national growth plan for world class early years provision.
