Welcome to our team, Olivia
We are delighted to welcome our new team member, Olivia Bilham. Olivia joins us from our partnership school in Pocklington, where she also continues to teach with Chatta in the classroom.
We asked Olivia a few questions to find out more about why she is so excited to be joining the Chatta team.
How did you get involved with Chatta?
I was introduced to Chris during staff training and immediately loved the concept. The next day, Chris visited my classroom and I watched in awe as my class were truly captivated by his teaching. Not only did they all have ideas, more importantly they wanted to be heard and to share their thoughts. Since then chatta has been timetabled into our week and I’ve never looked back!
What do you like about it?
It is so versatile. As a teacher it eases pressure of planning and is truly an effortless task which gives maximum impact. Anything and everything can be put through a chatta board and the ability to share the chat instantly with families means that the learning continues outside of the classroom too – what more could any teacher want?
What are you looking forward to in your new role?
The diversity to visit other educational providers and show them how they can make a huge impact on children’s speaking and language skills. For those who do not yet know that chatta exists, we’re ready to change your world!
What do you think about the role of technology in the classroom?
Many can see technology as daunting and unnecessary, I think the opposite. Technology will line the path for the children’s future, there is no escape so embrace it! Taking technology and using it in a productive way is powerful in providing exciting learning opportunities and chatta is exactly that!
What do you think Chatta can offer to children and families?
Conversation! Let’s get them talking! Expose children to wider vocabulary, descriptive language and the ability to ask questions.
