Drapers’ Maylands Primary School is proud to be a Chatta Hub School, showcasing the impact and simplicity of the Chatta approach. The school has seen immediate and sustained impact — not just on vocabulary, spoken language, and writing outcomes, but also on pupil understanding, independence, and teaching practice.
As a Chatta Hub School, Drapers’ Maylands hosts regular classroom demonstration and information sessions for visiting teachers and leaders. The team looks forward to sharing their journey and showcasing how Chatta is helping raise standards and strengthen language use, remove barriers to learning and raise standards across the curriculum.
Why Chatta?
Drapers’ Maylands has been working with Chatta since 2019, drawn to its unique blend of modelling, scaffolding, oral language development, and vocabulary enrichment. From the initial training sessions with Chris Williams, teachers and leaders saw immediate potential—not just for vocabulary, spoken language and writing outcomes, but for deepening pupil understanding, independence and success, and strengthening teaching practice.
What’s Changed?
Since embedding Chatta across the curriculum:
- Pupils have become more confident speakers and storytellers.
- Vocabulary use, knowledge, and understanding have significantly improved.
- Teachers use Chatta’s visual frameworks to support planning and delivery.
- Standards have risen across all subjects.
The school has seen a marked improvement in vocabulary use and understanding, writing fluency, subject knowledge, and pupil confidence, independence and achievement, for all pupils and especially among children with additional needs.
