Princes Primary School, Liverpool

Princes Primary School is one of Liverpool’s leading provisions for pupils with severe learning difficulties, supporting children from across the city aged four to eleven. The school is committed to providing exciting, meaningful learning experiences in a safe, happy and nurturing environment, with a strong emphasis on independence, communication and everyday life skills.

Princes Primary places great value on creating a personalised, aspirational and motivating curriculum. Staff work within a flexible framework that responds to individual need, ensures pupils are fully engaged in learning, and builds the communication, thinking and problem-solving skills required for life beyond school. Every pupil is valued, supported and encouraged to be healthy, safe, happy and successful.

Why Chatta at Princes Primary?

Princes Primary has embraced the Chatta approach as a practical, accessible and highly effective way to support communication, language development and independence for learners with a wide range of needs. The school has seen how Chatta’s simple audio-visual approach helps pupils understand, remember and talk about their learning, while supporting confidence, engagement and progress across the curriculum.

Through Chatta, pupils are:

  • developing clearer and more confident spoken language
  • improving vocabulary and understanding
  • supported to communicate their thinking in structured and meaningful ways
  • better able to retain and revisit learning
  • gaining independence in learning and everyday tasks

Staff value Chatta as a consistent, adaptable tool which supports high-quality teaching, strengthens communication, and removes barriers to learning for pupils with significant and complex needs.
